Why Editing is Critical for Indie Authors

Professionalism: Hiring an editor will give your work a professional touch. It will help you avoid grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, inconsistencies, plot holes, and other errors that can make your story look unprofessional.
Objectivity: An editor will provide an objective view of your work. They will be able to identify areas that need improvement and suggest ways to make your work better.
Clarity: An editor will help you clarify your ideas and ensure that your message is clear and concise.
Time-saving: Hiring an editor will save you dozens of hours you would have to spend editing your work yourself. Instead, you can focus on other aspects of your writing.
Better sales: A well-edited book is more likely to sell than one that is riddled with errors. Readers are more likely to recommend a book that is well-written and error-free.
Craft: A good editor can teach valuable writing skills which will benefit every novel you write.

In conclusion, hiring an editor is a must for indie authors who want to produce high-quality work that stands out in today's ferociously competitive marketplace.

The Editor's Mission

Any author's best draft is guaranteed to contain a number of issues, both major and minor. These will include typos, punctuation errors, grammatical infelicities, errant capitalization, over- or mis-used words, missing dialog tags, inconsistencies in characters' appearance or behavior, holes in plot logic, and worse--typically several hundred items of varying importance, and often thousands over the course of a novel. It's not unusual to find between five and ten items requiring correction on every page of a long work. You can’t see them, but readers will. This can result in negative reviews and lost sales.

The editor's job is  twofold: first, to ensure that your story is the best it can be, and that you hit what you're aiming at; and second,
to protect you, the author, from every possible circumstance that may cause embarrassment, criticism, scathing reviews, or ridicule. It's a job I'm passionate about and take pride in, and it's an honor to help writers bring their dreams to life. With editing for indies as well as authors going the traditional route, I'm pleased to be able to offer quality, affordable editing to the writing community.
